Copaiba essential oil has a longstanding reputation for being an uplifting, balancing, and soothing oil. In addition, its unique composition of constituents makes it one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory essential oils in the world [1]. This is largely the result of one of its primary active ingredients, beta-caryophyllene. Just a few of beta-caryophyllene’s biggest health and beauty benefits are discussed below.

Beta-caryophyllene is responsible for copaiba oil’s anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to fight inflammation, both inside and outside the body [2]. Studies have shown that copaiba oil reduces the appearance of acne, as well as the scaling and redness that is so common with psoriasis [3]. Additionally, the high concentration of beta-caryophyllene makes it effective at relieving pain caused by arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, and gout, while also reducing the swelling and pain associated with minor burns, bites, scrapes, and other wounds.

A 2012 study found that copaiba essential oil also has neuroprotective properties that can provide protection for neural and nonneural tissues in the brain after a stroke, or brain and spinal cord trauma [4]. A later study conducted in 2014 also determined that it may be beneficial for patients with multiple sclerosis due to the immunomodulary effect it has on the brain’s inflammatory mediators that are present with this disease [5]. Researchers state that it shows promise as a treatment for other inflammatory and demyelinating diseases.

How best to apply it? How often, how much? Better to ingest, inhale or topical use?

Ann you can do all three. I would do 1or 2 drops in beverage if ingesting…about 4 if diffusing and a few if using topical.
