There are many home based remedies to stay healthy. Preventative medicine has become a popular buzz word because of how scurried society is with the stress of working outside the home and trying to maintain order within it.  When it comes to unwinding though, all women, whether career or homemaker, can struggle with sleep. It is a common problem and often neglected. The following are a few natural tips for getting a good night’s ‘z’s’.

Boil Bananas

This is a great sleep remedy tea that is full of vitamins and minerals. Make sure the buy organic bananas for this occasion though. Start by removing the ends of the bananas and then dropping two of them into 4 cups of boiling water. Let simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on taste. Then take out the bananas and let cool while pouring a cup of hot tea into a mug. For a special treat, let them have a scoop of ice cream on the bananas and some caramel syrup or a few drops of lavender or chamomile essential oil. Both the tea and the fruit will sooth the muscles thanks to the potassium and magnesium. Also, the magnesium will contribute to a more undisturbed sleep. This trick was featured on Dr. Oz, so it is not just a folk remedy.

Do not Work out Two Hours Before Bedtime

It may be tempting to whisk the children to bed and then squish in a half hour on the elliptical machine, but do not succumb. Work outs actually give the body a burst of energy with the positive neurochemicals are released from the brain during exercise. Save the burst of serotonin, dopamine, and epinephrine until the morning or early afternoon the next day.

Do a Guided Meditation Each Night

In order to feel ready to let go of the worries of the day, one must focus on restful thoughts. If religion is important, this is an excellent time to listen to some worship music and let the words soak in. If one prefers tapes, then looked up relaxation exercises on YouTube might be a better fit. Try to sit quietly there for 15 minutes. This may seem like a painful amount of time, but it will help to relax the mind and rejuvenate the spirit.

Write a Personal Blog

It seems like everyone has a blog these days. And some women are motivated by a viral audience. They need to feel like their thoughts and experiences are being heard. But what this really is is the modern day equivalent to a journal. And a pen and notebook will also do just fine for this ritual. It is easy to get caught up with the demands of motherhood and running a household. Do not let burn-out come to roost in your little nest. Pick up that pen and laptop and have some “you” time. It is important to check in with yourself at the end of the day. This might later even turn into a part-time job, but to begin use this time to unwind and reflect on the days events to bring a sense of call and closure.

This is a modern world, and with all the technology, women often forget that they have personalities alongside the buzz and clicks. It is not hard to recharge at the end of the night, but getting to the point of unwinding is something many mothers procrastinate. After getting the little ones to bed, take some time to also get yourself prepared for a restful night, the natural ways.
