When you think eggs, honey and yogurt, you think breakfast for the kids. These home foods aren’t just for fixing a tasty snack- they can be amazing, natural home treatment products for your hair!

Have a bit of free time before the next chore or before picking up the kids? Try out these natural hair treatments:

For Dull Hair

Dairy products such as plain yogurt or sour cream can help reverse the damage air pollution and styling products do to your hair. Got dull hair that just won’t shine? Lactic acid removes the buildup of dirt, while the fat from milk moisturizes it.

Massage half a cup of yogurt or sour cream on your damp hair and let it sit for around 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with warm, then cold water, and shampoo as normal. Do this once every other week.

Greasy or Oily Hair

Cornmeal is an inexpensive food ingredient that absorbs grease like there’s no tomorrow.

Measure out a tablespoon of cornstarch or cornmeal onto a pepper or salt shaker, then sprinkle it into your hair and scalp. Wait for 10 minutes, then brush it out with a paddle hairbrush. Do this every other day.

Frizzy Hair

Avocados are great for treatment against frizzy hair. It has the best combination of oils and proteins that are perfect for taming that unruly hair and smoothing it out.

Mash half an avocado, then massage the mixture onto your damp hair. Let it stay for around 15 minutes before washing it off with water. Do this once every 2 weeks.

Dry Hair

Honey is the super solution for dry hair. It’s a natural humectant in that it locks in moisture and keeps away the elements that may dry your hair.

Massage half a cup of organic honey onto your damp hair. Let it stay for around 20 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Do this once a month.

All Hair Types

If you’re in between all of these, then the egg is a great choice. The yolk is rich in proteins and essential fats, while the whites are excellent for removing excessive oil. You can make use of the egg as a whole for normal hair, the whites for treating oily hair, and the yolk for curing dry, brittle hair.

Use half a cup of egg mixture depending on what you need, the put it onto your damp hair. Leave it on for around 20 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. The yolk hair treatment may be done once a month, while the whites treatment may be done once every 2 weeks.
